Oppa Outings #11 and #14 (I think??)

It was bound to happen, [livejournal.com profile] sarea_okelani and I falling behind on our posting, and so these are all a bit of a vaguely-recalled jumble. Nonetheless, we shall soldier on.

At the end of June, we first went for haircuts with our usual stylist, and then I picked up sandwiches from Tres Sandwich and went to her house so we could watch a GOT7 concert DVD she'd picked up at KCON NY a couple weeks before. Hyunsik oppa got to hang out with all the oppas at Sarea's house and joined us for lunch. He also now has the flower he was missing before! :D

After that we headed down to Federal Way for noraebang where the nice ahjussi has learned to recognize us, though he still seems to think we can understand Korean and occasionally tries to say things to us that we're like ...????

Then to So Moon Nan Jib for dinner where we tried gopchang jungol (beef intestine stew) for the first time! I liked it more than Sarea, but then I generally like intestines more than your average bear.

Part of the reason we kinda fell off doing these write-ups is because we are creatures of habit and love doing the same thing every weekend, so it was all getting pretty repetitive. However, we did manage to do something different yesterday, but neglected to bring an oppa with us. To the rescue: Emergency Donald! He's a little purse accessory I regularly carry on my messenger bag, and for oppa purposes, he's BTOB's Eunkwang (from the time BTOB dressed up as Disney characters for an MV).

He failed us terribly at first, when we went to a new (to us) noodle place for dinner because they had zhajiangmian (we assumed this was supposed to be the savory Chinese version of jjajangmyeon), and it turned out... soupy and peanuty and not in any way, shape, or form similar to the jjajangmyeon we know except that there were noodles in it. We're guessing it's a regional thing, but still disappointing even as a noodle dish in itself. We got that, and their house special noodles (chongqing xiaomian), plus mixed veg salad, pot stickers, and fresh house-made soy milk. The soy milk and the veg salad were the best; everything else was a solid eh.

Prior to this, we hadn't thought about Donald, but we'd gone to Boiling Point for lunch and Midori after that for lattes and a lemon ginger scone for me and a Midoreo for Sarea (their fancy version of an Oreo). Sarea had an idea to text a couple of her colleagues M and K to see if they were up for an escape room that evening, and happily, they were! After whiling some time away at my place solving math problems for the cheapest toilet paper available and watching the first episode of This is My Love to see how cute Jinyoung was in it (so cute) and a couple episodes of Real GOT7, we then went to Chongqing Noodles and met Sarea's colleagues at Flee Escape.

We did their Ancient Egypt room, which had a bunch of sand on the floor. Cool for game immersion but we definitely would have worn different shoes if we had been told beforehand. It was M's first ever escape room, but he got into it quickly and seemed to really enjoy it. We escaped in 53 minutes! Whooooo. We weren't really expecting to either, since the success rate for that room was apparently just over 20%. We are so smart.

Sarea and I then headed to Hard Wok Cafe after that for dessert. On the server's rec, Sarea got the strawberry mini-toast and I got tofu pudding, which were both good, so Eunkwang redeemed himself. We also saw the table next to us got zhajiangmian that looked a lot more like it's supposed to, except with different noodles (although Sarea went there for lunch the next day and reported that it was awful).

Also omg that that is the mini version. It's 3 thick slices of lightly toasted bread (I'm sure I've talked about this before, but Asian bread is SO MUCH BETTER than American bread; this is indisputable fact), and we got super full halfway through. Unimaginable to eat the actual normal-sized version that is basically an entire loaf of bread. Lolol.
