Mmrr. I don't like it when a fic comes highly recommended and then I can't read it because the author hasn't figured out how to punctuate dialogue correctly, and poor SpaG usage sets my teeth on edge. I mean, on the one hand, yay interesting plot, and on the other, why can't you apply punctuation rules you should have learned and mastered as a wee child?

In all likelihood, I am being overly picky and need to calm down. But I'm going to see this instead as a one-woman crusade against bad punctuation. (It's a very silent crusade.)

Also, happy earth day, everyone.

I'm the same :/ I've actually stopped reading a really good fic (plot wise), because the SpaG was making my eyes bleed.

Yes, I feel with you there.
I got into Twilight fanfiction and the quality control is non-existent, so I wince every time I read 'youre' and 'your the bomb'.

You are not at all being overly picky. I'm the exact same way. I will flat out refuse to read a story if the punctuation is bugging me that much.

I'm the same way. I've more or less given up even trying to read fic like that, no matter how good the plot is. It's just not worth the pain.

*sigh* Which is why I don't read Twilight fan fic. Haha.

Sometimes the way you feel about the SpaG will bleed into your overall opinion of the story. At least, it does for me, so if there is bad spelling and grammar, I just can't read it. I don't think it's too much to ask to be able to read correct English. :)

That's the worst, when you really want to know what happens but just can't go on!

Oh, ugh, the "your/you're" thing just kills my soul. I have a t-shirt that defines the difference between 'your' and 'you're' and it makes me feel like I'm doing some public good everytime I wear it.

Also, I enjoy your icon very much. :)

Yes, if only everyone could embrace good punctuation as we do!

True, that! I've tried soldiering through, but it just makes the mistakes even more prominent!

Yes, absolutely! If I remember who makes my eyes bleed I tend to just avoid that author entirely from then on.
