1.
His feet made shallow furrows in the fine, fluffy layer of newly fallen snow as Draco made the short trip home, his thoughts occasionally meandering but very quickly returning to rest on Ginny Weasley.
It wouldn't be fair to say that he hated her -- that particular emotion was reserved for the one person, if Voldemort could be classified as a person, who had destroyed his life in one fell, whimsical swoop. If the bastard had been given a grave, Draco would have had no qualms clogging all over it, though he suspected dancing on someone's grave wouldn't hold the same level of satisfaction as, say, blowing it to pieces and then setting every bit of debris on fire.
Comparatively, Ginny Weasley was like a nice little breath of air, if he was standing downwind from a landfill.

Straightening his clothes as he jogged down the stairs, Arthur waited until he was ensconced in his car before flipping his phone open to read the mission in full. He slipped it back into his pocket once more and pulled his car out onto the street, sparing a swift glance at the bedroom window with its diaphanous shades and a slender silhouette in its fretwork frame.
She had been charming, beautiful to the core, but Arthur had no time for love or relationships, or for breakfast. He had people to kill.

Still clutching his mobile phone after an unsolicited conversation with his publicist, who'd complained that hermits got out more than he did and then tried to set up a date for him, Colin spent the next five minutes debating the relative merits of firing everyone he knew by text message.

Then again, to Merlin's credit, he was the only one, seemingly in the whole of Camelot, who had good enough sense not to treat Arthur like a fragile little butterfly with a pierced wing. Aside, of course, from his foisting an awkward hug on Arthur's person just after Gwen and Lancelot had gone, which had only been awkward because Merlin had ambushed him from the shadows like some kind of crazy animal, and Arthur had only just barely enough time to register, first, that he wasn't being attacked and that it felt as though there were about a dozen more elbows involved than there ought, before Merlin had backed off, pink in the face.
Others, depending on their station, either talked to him in the babying, cheering-up sort of voice he hadn't heard since his last nurse entreated him to be a brave boy after suffering a fall out of a tree when he was eight, or tiptoed around him like the slightest hint of a breeze would send him careening over the edge of madness.
He'd also been getting extra, commiserative helpings of custard at supper from the cook, however, so it wasn't all an exercise in misery.
