Fic hypothetical.

If two kick-ass, modern-day, secret-agentesque protagonists somehow got themselves captured, relieved of their weapons and hog-tied to chairs with painful death imminent (after the villain is finished speechifying, obvs), how might said protagonists get out of this situation alive?

I'm not saying I'm writing this; I just want to solve it first before I write myself into a corner. I don't have enough action movies ingrained in my brain to know what to do, and I suspect the amazing power of love between the two characters is of little use. ¬¬

(Also, Merlin does not have his magic, alas.)

Obvs, the villain and the guards left at some point.
some hand/wrist wriggling frees said hands/arms.
The muscle punches the lonely guard that is tricked into coming into the chamber, so they have a weapon.
They sneak out.

Uhm.... very basic, very plain and simple but that's the usual route, isn't it?
Otherwise, deus-ex-machina, someone comes in and rescues them (Gwaine, Lancelot, Percival)

I think there is a lot of stuff out there about how to free your hands from being tied up.
(Plus how you can slip from handcuffs, it involves a broken thumb ligament or something)
