NaBloPoMo, Day 2! (Elle's meme HERE)

When did you create your LJ, and what brought you here? How did you get your username? Has it changed?

Erm, I know there's a way to look the exact date up somewhere, but I am lazy to go ferreting through the archives. I'm pretty sure I got started around mid-2008. I was a latecomer! I actually was on Blogger to begin with because one of my RL friends was there, but I got bored with the minimal interaction and also not being able to truly fangirl with anyone on there. Plus, I was already keeping track of and occasionally talking to several fanfic writers from the D/G fandom who were established on LJ, so I picked up and moved operations here, and it has been fab, making friends with so many lovely people over the years.

My username story is this: I don't have a middle name. My then-boyfriend decided to pick one for me, and it was Adelagia. (I don't remember why he picked it, but I'm guessing pretentiousness was involved.) So, in 2004, when I'd written my very first Harry Potter fanfic (Ron/Hermione, posted on Checkmated! I don't even know if that site still exists), I went with that for my username for lack of any better/more creative options, and have kept it ever since. I've thought about changing it a bunch of times to something potentially sillier, but it's so entrenched in both the D/G and Merlin fandoms now, since I wrote a bunch of fic for both under that name, that I don't think I could. And I'm so used to it as well, that when I branch out to other places I keep using it for convenience's sake. (Except for tumblr, where I did go with the much sillier, Simpsons-based username of mmmpointy. :))

I'm glad it's not just me. I have thought about changing my username lots - but I've written fic. It would only confuse people. lol.

Hee, yes, exactly. I've totally been confused when other writers have changed their names and can never remember their new ones b/c I don't have the association in my head anymore.

The mystery of the username revealed! I've always thought Adelagia was a pretty name - pretentious or not. ;)

I've never thought about changing my username, mostly because I never knew what I would change it to. I DID, however, change it from I Dream of Draco to idreamofdraco on FIA and FFN. Can't remember if I changed it before or after I joined LJ though.

I should never have picked my username, but I was stuck with it long before LJ, and although I think of changing it, I never get further than the thinking about it stage =)
