RPF drabble -- B/C
Sep. 12th, 2009 10:47 amI think all the Merlin fans on my f-list know Colin was taken to hospital a couple days ago but thankfully came out okay, though I still feel a little anxious about him and need him to be well taken care of, hence today's drive-by drabble. Thank you to
the_muppetfor not looking at me funny when I foisted this on her without warning. :)

It was beyond late by the time the hospital deigned to release Colin from its clutches. He'd undergone a steady battery of tests that he knew he didn't need, but his French was lacking, his minder's helpful contribution had been wringing her hands a lot, and Johnny, paranoid, had been the one to order the ambulance in the first place, even though Colin had told him the only reason he'd collapsed that afternoon was because he'd forgotten to eat breakfast and then skipped lunch to run lines with Richard.
The hotel lobby was empty when they got back, aside from the sole receptionist filing her nails behind the counter; most likely everyone had already turned in for the night, Johnny having called ahead to let them all know that Colin was all right. Colin said a quick goodnight to his chaperones, taking the stairs two at a time, ready to fall into bed.
There was an odd, thumping noise coming from the room across the hall, though, which meant that Bradley had challenged his door to a football match, which meant that Bradley was working off a strop. Colin hesitated, and then knocked anyway.
"You idiot," Bradley accused by way of greeting, because when everybody said that he was the one cast member who most resembled his character, they really weren't joking.
"I'm fine, thank you," said Colin agreeably. "You can say 'I told you so' if you want."
Bradley pulled the door all the way open and then stood to one side to let Colin in. "I'm a bigger person than that," he sniffed.
Colin picked up the football, lobbing it back and forth from one hand to the other, waiting. He smiled encouragingly.
"Fine. I did tell you so. But no one ever listens to Bradley. 'No, Bradley, I don't need to eat anything'," he said in a particularly poor imitation of Colin, his voice taking on a completely unnecessary falsetto quality. "'Lunch breaks are for losers. I'm just going to go over here and overwork myself and black out instead.'"
Colin considered this for a moment, and gripped Bradley's shoulder regretfully. "Your standard of impersonations has really declined."
"Oh, has it? Colin?" Bradley said, overdoing the withering note, his usual good humour creeping back into his voice now that he'd got what he wanted to say out of the way.
"I'm okay, really," said Colin.
"Yes, well, that's what you say now. But I know you, Morgan; you have a terrible habit of putting work first and stressing yourself out. That's why I've decided." His eyes gleamed alarmingly.
"Ehm, was that supposed to sound really ominous? Should I be afraid?"
"Yes. And possibly," Bradley conceded. "But the important thing is that I've appointed myself Official Colin Morgan Looker-After, because, let's face it, your minder is useless, and I have no qualms about tackling you to the ground and force-feeding you a six-course meal if I have to."
"You're a bit mad, did you know?" Colin asked genially.
Bradley beamed, well aware. "It's a valued characteristic of an Official Colin Morgan Looker-After. Should I get that printed on a t-shirt, do you think?"
"Yeah," Colin laughed. "I mean, if it's official and everything."
"Yep, I've pretty much set it in stone. You can't ever get rid of me, you know."
Colin grinned. "Who said I wanted to?"
ETA: Aside from the part where Colin went to hospital, I should say that everything up there is completely made up, including the reason he went, as I have no idea what happened that required the trip.

on 2009-09-12 04:10 am (UTC)I guess Colin's back on set working and looks to be in fine physical condition, so that's good news. I still want to, like, pat him and make sure he's eating right and clip his mittens to his coat, though, poor baby Colin! :)

And I'm so glad you've decided to post and share it - I thought about saying that but wasn't sure if you wanted to... so I'm really glad you did =)

on 2009-09-12 04:39 pm (UTC)It made me feel better too, just to commit it to writing and send it out into the ether, as it were, since, like I said, I had to get all that worry out of my system!

on 2009-12-05 12:56 am (UTC)And I think maybe Colin does need an official Looker-After, cause he seems so fragile to me. LOL. Maybe because I feel like I might snap him in half if I hugged him or something. Not that I ever will. This is going to a weird place, so, yeah... Nice story!
