It's a relief not to have to attend Expo this time round. It isn't that he minds the fans or the questions, but Colin's been run ragged since May, and they're still in Cardiff doing pick-ups, so he is more than glad to let the girls shuttle off to London to take on the responsibility of being professional and representing the show.

Bradley's off the hook, too, which is a happy coincidence. They'd originally planned to maybe take the train with Angel and Katie to London, and go and do things that would make them feel very culturally responsible and informed, like check out the National Maritime Museum or try to hunt down Catherine Howard's ghost at Hampton Court, but as the Expo weekend approached, neither of them had felt very much up to bettering themselves, and had agreed upon being complete layabouts instead.

When Colin calls him mid-morning on their day off to see if he wants to hang out at the hotel's indoor pool for a while, however, Bradley's not only awake, but out gallivanting on his own.

"I've just got some errands to run; I should be back before lunch, so I'll come and find you then, all right?" says Bradley, and leaves it at that. It's not curt, but it's unusual. Most of the time, when Colin gets him on the phone while he's out of doors and there's nothing of particularly high importance to talk about, he will narrate to Colin everything happening around him. It's why Colin knows how to navigate Bradley's neighbourhood in Devon despite never having visited (he will, one day), and that there's a particularly good busker at the Paddington tube station on Wednesdays (Bradley had got her to sing into the phone), and that somewhere out there is a stray dog that looks exactly like a rat (photographic evidence still pending).

So Colin goes to the pool by himself, gets in enough laps to feel reasonably accomplished and, on his way out, winks at a group of small children who keep staring at him, possibly unsure what to do with a person who looks exactly like Merlin but who can't really be him, because Merlin's off at Camelot, obviously.

He's just finished a quick shower when his mobile beeps at him; it's Bradley.

Back, says the text message.

Thirty seconds later, PS: Coconuts migrate.

Colin's brows knit together, and he looks around his room briefly like this will help him decipher the text. It's been a while since they've watched that Monty Python, so they're not exactly in one of their movie-quoting frenzies, and he's not sure whether he's being told this as a fact, or Bradley's accidentally sent him a message meant for someone else, or Bradley's maybe done himself a head injury. Finally, he sends back, Are you on drugs?

There's no reply after this, so there's clearly no choice but to go to Bradley's room and check on his mental well-being. Colin shuffles down the corridor and knocks.

"Password," Bradley demands from within.

"What?"

"Password, Colin."

Colin throws up his hands, bewildered. His phone is in one of them, and he peers at it suspiciously. "Er. Coconuts migrate?" he hazards.

The door yawns open. "No points for enthusiasm, Morgan, but I'll accept it."

Bradley's room is a mess, which isn't anything out of the ordinary, but this time it's a carefully constructed mess. There are pillows and chairs and cushions all askew, and blankets and sheets strewn over everything.

Enlightenment dawns on him only a split second before delight sets in. "You built a fort," Colin says, kind of amazed at all the trouble Bradley's gone through to surprise him, and Bradley's wide grin sparks a warm little flame in him that he has to hide with a laugh.

Between the Harry Potter book they read by torchlight, the epic debate they have over whether custard creams or chocolate digestives are better (Bradley had purchased both, specifically to start this fight) and Colin's Lego pirates making Bradley's Han Solo Lego walk the plank, Colin's pretty sure he's having the best day of his life, and the National Maritime Museum can stuff it. He's got a fort and he's got Bradley, and he's never been happier.

A fort???? Bradley, how cute is that? *melts*
Oh boys, why so adorable? ❤

I know many fans hoped for them to be at the Expo (me included) but now I'm just glad they don't have to go and have time to spend the day in their fort. They deserve a proper time-out after all these months of filming...

Thank you so much for sharing this with us, sweetie! :D

I think Bradley would be a champion pillow fort builder. And they're both rather a lot bigger than the last time either of them was in a pillow fort, so they keep knocking parts of it over accidentally, but it's okay because building it again is half the fun anyway. :)

Yeah, the boys really deserve a break, though it's a shame for the fans who were travelling to Expo specifically to see them!

Thank you for stopping by to read and comment! ♥
