Ramblings about Fringe 3x18: Bloodline

adelagiaWHAT A BLOODY GOOD EPISODE.
For reasons I can't comprehend, there are some people out in the internetosphere who don't like the alt!universe episodes (I worry about their mental health), but I did some poking around a few comments and forums after 3x18 aired and it seems they are coming around. And for good reason!
What a showcase for Seth Gabel this week, my god. Maybe I'm biased, having loved Lincoln's character pretty much since the minute he showed up, but I thought this week he was spectacular. The scene with Lincoln and Walternate in the latter's office? OMG, effing superb -- on both parts. I mean, John Noble continues to deserve a thousand Emmys, obviously, but Seth Gabel was on fire, man. The nuances in his speech, the little jaw tics, HIS EYES -- all that betrayal and disbelief at Walternate's words and having to hold it all in, AUGH, BB.
I don't know if it was on purpose (probably), but having Lincoln framed between the blue and red wall art in the office was interesting, especially as it seems he and Charlie will be doing some investigating on the side about our universe. Huzzah!
Speaking of, how adorable are they together? I love their dynamic so much. There is just such obvious affection and respect between the two of them, and every time they are onscreen together it's just gold. I don't want to think about losing the alt!universe, but if we do, I will CRY. I will cry REAL TEARS. And then I will demand that Charlie and Lincoln get their own show, wherein they solve crimes and crack wise on a weekly basis like the awesome BAMFs that they are. (Henry the cabbie can occasionally help out, as he is also awesome.)
And then and then and then, the birth scene! Lincoln had me in tears. I was iconning the episode earlier today and HIS FACE, OMG. Even just looking at the stills from that scene still gets me. He pours out SO MUCH emotion there. The scene doesn't even last four minutes, but oh man, it hits hard -- Henry acknowledging that Fauxlivia doesn't recognize him, the silent exchange between Lincoln and Fauxlivia about having spoken to her mom and all the implications therein, "Just look at me; you don't think about an hour from now, you don't think about a minute. We're going to focus on this moment, okay? It's you and me", Lincoln's heart breaking for all the world to see. Ohhh, KUDOS, ALL.
(Also, if the tear tracks are anything to go by, I think Seth Gabel may have done that all in one take. I may or may not have watched this episode five times. I really like it, okay?)
Last but not least, what the hell is Walternate up to NOW?
