I know what we're gonna do today
Mar. 18th, 2012 10:10 pmAs with practically everything else, I've gotten on board with The Hunger Games about three years after everyone else discovered that it's amazing.
accordingtomel gave me a copy of it a little while ago, but I've only just had the time to read it now since it's spring break (SPRING BREAK! WHOOO!), and as soon as I finished it, I had to hop on to Amazon to buy the rest of the series.
(PS. Why aren't the paperbacks out yet? It's been two years since Catching Fire was published. WTH?)
Am going to see a pre-screening of the movie this week with
sarea_okelani, which is super exciting, especially now that I've actually read the book, lol.
Fic is hard to find, though. Well, I mean, good fic. And also fic that isn't spoilery for the latter two books.
In other news, I'm in the midst of an extended showdown with some kind of stomach bug. It's not bad enough to render me non-functional, but it's also very diligent about making sure I know it's still hanging around. Vastly irritating. But you know what this means? Next time I play Pandemic, I get to go first! Whooo.

on 2012-03-19 06:04 am (UTC)Is that really part of the rules? That's hilarious. I hope you feel better soon!
I'm so jelly about The Hunger Games. I won't be able to see the movie until I return home in June. D:

on 2012-03-19 04:57 pm (UTC)BTW my cousin and her husband are both very interested in Pandemic. I might get them to play it! LOL.
Also... YMMV but I like to pretend the 2nd and 3rd books don't exist. >.> I don't know how popular that opinion is -- I mean, people love the series -- but to me there was a huge drop off in quality, storytelling, and just about everything after the first book. Are they totally checked out at the library? Cuz that is so the way I'd go, if Amazon hasn't been their efficient selves.

on 2012-03-19 07:08 pm (UTC)Whoo, spread the Pandemic love! (You'll have to disown them if they don't like it.)
Amazon has been crazy efficient; I got a ship notice this morning. Oh well! Maybe I'll like it better than you do :)

on 2012-03-19 07:13 pm (UTC)What was hilarious was that K was telling me how much D loves board games but hasn't been able to find people to play with, and that maybe they should host a board games night so that I could bring my board-game-playing friends over to play with him. LOL! It's like setting up a play date, but for an adult.

on 2012-03-19 07:18 pm (UTC)But honestly, the last book in the series got published... eh, no idea but I got my paperbacks in December 2010. Granted it was a first edition paperback and from Scholastic UK, but over a year of holding back the paperbacks? That's just weird.
